Over the past four years the Shakespeare Club has used performances as vehicles for developing skills. We begin the year in the fall building ensemble, voice, movement and text skills. Our first "test" of those skills comes on monologue night where all members perform a Shakespearean monologue for an audience of friends and family.

In November we begin working on our "short show," usually a one-act version of a Shakespearean play, a 15 minute comic version, or a combination of both. We perform these shows for the community in our school theater, and have even performed as part of the New Year's Portland Festival.

In May or June we perform a full-length Shakespearean play complete with sets, costumes, lights, and music! Each year we have also modified the full-length to a 90 minute show to participate in the Children's Theater of Maine Shakespeare Festival.
