Portland High School was recently visited by a committee from NEASC which accredits secondary schools in New England. That visit was the culmination of two years of preparation for the review by that group. Teachers had spent a good deal of time and effort assembling reports and data for the committee to peruse in their three-day stay at PHS. The committee visited classrooms, interviewed parents, students and school staff and issued a preliminary report to the staff. The official findings of the group will be forwarded to the school in the spring. The reports will include commendations and recommendations.

Meantime, the school will focus on the goals:

Goal 1: To establish a comprehensive assessment system
Goal 2: To conduct ongoing reflection on PHS
Goal 3: To create a positive external climate for PHS

Portland High School is a member the New England Association of Schools and Colleges.
