Welcome to the AP® Program
The Advanced Placement Program
(AP) is a collaborative effort between motivated students; dedicated teachers;
and committed high schools, colleges, and universities. Since its inception
in 1955, the Program has enabled millions of students to take college-level
courses and exams, and to earn college credit or placement, while still
in high school. universities in more than 30 other countries, have an
AP policy granting incoming students credit, placement, or both on the
basis of their AP Exam grades. Many of these institutions grant up to
a full year of college credit (sophomore standing) to students who earn
a suffcient number of qualifying AP grades.
Most colleges and universities turn to the AP Program as a model of educational

AP
Spanish Language is intended for students who wish to develop
proficiency and integrate their language skills, using authentic
materials and sources. Students who enroll should already have
a basic knowledge of the language and cultures of Spanish-speaking
peoples and should have attained a reasonable proficiency in using
the language. Although these qualifcations may be attained in
a variety of ways, it is assumed that most students will be in
the final stages of their secondary school training and will have
had appropriate course work in the language. *

Española
The AP Spanish Literature
course is designed to provide students with a learning experience
equivalent to that of a third-year college course in Peninsular
and Latin American literature. The course is designed to introduce
students to the formal study of a representative body of Peninsular
and Latin American literary texts.*
