For as long as I can remember, Portland High has been a part of my life. I consider it to be a tremendous honor to be a part of the rich and long-lasting tradition that this school enjoys. Portland High School is one of the best high schools in the country, with many of its graduating students continuing on to some of the best colleges and universities in the nation. Among its strengths is its outstanding faculty. Coming from all walks of life, the teachers at PHS are second to none. Their enthusiasm, professionalism and caring nature can be felt throughout the school as they strive to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse population. I am proud of the way they eagerly welcome students from all over the world and

Schools exist as an extension of parents and community. Through schools, students build greater esteem and open more doors of opportunity for themselves. Schools provide an avenue for students to seek. They teach students how to communicate with a diverse group of people. Schools bring out the physical and mental gifts that each individual may have and teach how to apply those gifts. Schools are in the busines of hope. By challenging each student to further enhance and improve their lives and to seek out the highest of standards, schools offer New Hope to all, no matter what socio-economic background or culture they are from. I believe that students have to make a commitment to learning in order to become successful. As leaders, we need to continually motivate students to achieve learning. Students learn at different levels and capacities. We, as leaders, must continually motivate the student as an individual to learn at higher personal standards. We achieve this by being creative and challenging in the classroom and encouraging students to be involved with extra-curricular activities that are also challenging and require the student to reach within him or herself and with other classmates for success.
embrace this challenge with astonishing skill. At PHS, we are continually working to find ways to give every studentmeaningful relationships with the adults in the school. It is my vision that Portland High will prepare all of its students for the challenges ahead, whether in the world of work or at an institute of higher learning. Our athletic teams and other co-curricular organizations continue to thrive and achieve excellence with whatever they do. At Portland High School, "the city is our campus". Students and staff eagerly take advantage of all that Portland has to offer. Come and visit our school and you will feel the energy that is second to none!
